Voting! It's not too late -- with a minute's worth of time, you can legally offer to swap a Nader/Gore vote -- that is, vote for Nader in one of the Bush-confirmed states, and encourage someone else to vote for Gore in a swing state, thereby helping to get electoral votes for Gore while getting federal matching funds for a third party in the next presidential election. The states which will almost certainly cast all their electoral votes for Bush are: Alabama, Alaska, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Mississippi, Nebraska, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Virginia, and Wyoming.

Even if you don't want to "swap votes" with a swing state voter, if you planned on voting for the "wrong" candidate in one of the solidly confirmed states, your popular vote in the presidential election doesn't count for anything. Take a look at this article.

Also, very interesting is the Open Secrets web site -- tracks political spending. Since the legislators won't reform campaign finance themselves, at least the public records of campaign giving makes things very interesting. Look in your zip code and see how your neighbors, both private and corporate, put their wallets where there... wallets are.
